5 points ahead of second Manchester City after a narrow win. Chelsea is playing Mourinho football. Well organized at the back and fast on the counter. Possession football with Hazard running the show. All it took was a goal to make sure that Mourinho’s men maintain that 5 point cushion with a game in hand. It was a tough game with some good play from West Ham. Chelsea’s goal came after Hazard who seem to be offside headed from close range. West Ham provided a tough game with some good chances but the Chelsea defense was relentless. Not so pretty but good win for the blues.
Manchester City was at home to a relentless Leicester team that showed lots of heart. They did not only defend well but also asked many questions to that City defense. Kompany who has been having a tough time was dropped to the bench. Bony had his first start and he worked really hard. He was at the end of a wonderful pass from Silva. Difficult ball that he brought down with his chest. The ball did not settle well but he managed to pull a trigger that was above cross bar. Warning signs for Leicester and it did not stay for City to find the back of the net. Beautiful combination and resilience play saw Silva finish from close range. Leicester was unlucky to score with the ball hitting goal on more than one occasion. City took advantage and finished them with a Milner scoring an important second goal. Good work from Navas who crossed the ball only where Milner could get to
Arsenal keeps winning ugly to maintain hold on that third place. The gunners had a tough game away at QPR. They were actually second best with possession play. Gird who had a nightmare against Monaco has stepped up his game. He scored two goals coming into this game and was not to be denied yet again. He was well alert to get at the end of a blocked ball to punish QPR,1-0. Arsenal played well as a team and make QPR pay for all their missed first half chances. It was Sanchez this time around. He finished a brilliant play with a tricky finish. He beat the keeper right at the first post. QPR made the game interesting as Charlie Austin scored with 8 minutes to the end. Arsenal has found a way to win ugly and let teams have more possession.
Liverpool is the hottest team in the Premiere League hands down. Man of the match Jordan Henderson has stepped up in Gerrald’s absence. I can only continue praising Rogers for the turn around. Not one, not two but many players have improved on their game. The 3 man back has another clean sheet. What a coach is he. All of a sudden Liverpool has depth in their squad as well. They could have scored more than two goals in this game. Credit to Burnley too who made things difficult. Their keeper was in top form but could not stop Henderson at the 29th minute and Sturridge later in the 51st minute
Southampton played yesterday and had a great win against Crystal Palace. It was a hard fought game. Palace will be actually kicking themselves for failing to score. They created lots of opportunity but lacked the scoring touch. Big win for the Saints as in keeps them in pace for UCL spot
Spurs beat Swansea 3-2 in an electrifying game. Their first goal was marred by the collapse of Gomis. He was taken to the hospital and moments after Swansea twitted that he was in stable condition. Wish him a speedy recovery. Swansea scored through Sung to make it 1-1 on the 19th minute. Spurs later scored though Mason and Townsend (51st and 60th minute) Sigurdsson scored in the 89th minute to make it 3-2. The chase to UCL and Europa is on
